Christian Faith Fellowship Church began in the
heart of, then Evangelist, Darrell L. Hines. God showed him a vision
of a church that was filled with people from different socioeconomic
backgrounds, with their hands lifted up, praising their God. As he
beheld the beauty & unity of their praise and worship, he wondered –
“Where is this church? This is something I want to be a part of”.
God spoke to his heart. "Darrell this is the church I have called
you to Pastor." From that very moment, the vision never left his
heart as he continued to travel around the country and abroad,
preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A few years passed, and the call became stronger, while evangelizing
in Memphis Tennessee God warned Evangelist Darrell that if he didn’t
start the ministry, He would find somebody else! The words resounded
in his heart, and after seeking the Lord; he called Milwaukee and
asked his wife, Pamela, to find a place for services to be held by
the end of the week. The first service was filled with excitement as
people came from far and near. The church that seated 200 people was
filled to capacity; however he and his family were the only ones to
join.
Soon thereafter, the church became too small to accommodate CFFC and
they relocated to their second location, Incarnation Lutheran
Church, in the inner city of Milwaukee. Almost two years later, this
building, which seated 400 people, was too small. The next move was
to the north side of town into Burroughs Junior High School, which
seated approximately 1000 people. While the first church was being
built, the school began to fill to capacity. Also, during this time,
there were many members from the Chicago land area consistently
driving to Milwaukee, and God placed it on Pastor Darrell’s heart to
come to them instead. As a result, Pastor asked James Logan to find
a place to hold a revival and afterward, he would drive to the area,
every Wednesday night, to preach and teach.
A year later, Sunday morning services began at the Wixom Auditorium,
in Waukegan, causing the church to take root in the North Shore
area, where the presence and power of God could be felt. In the
summer of 1994, James and Deborah were ordained and installed as
First Assistant Pastors of Christian Faith Fellowship Church
Waukegan. The church continued to grow, as did the demand for Pastor
Hines increased around the country. By the end of 1996, it became
clear to Pastor Hines that God was releasing the church into the
hands of Pastors Logan.
In January of 1997, James and Deborah Logan became the Pastors of
Christian Faith Fellowship Church – Waukegan, and Willie and Kathy
Moton began Christian Faith Fellowship Church -North Chicago (now
Gurnee, Illinois). God continued adding to the church as the
membership swelled to over 400. God released Pastor James from his
job at Abbott Laboratories in August 1997. By years end, God spoke
to Pastor James about a Building Fund. Out of his obedience to God,
a building fund drive began in January of 1998. The next month,
Pastors Logan began looking for a home for the congregation. Nothing
seemed suitable with the rapid growth they were experiencing. Pastor
Logan felt led of the Lord to have a real estate agent send letters
to local churches, in the North Shore area, who might be thinking of
relocating or just simply needed to sell. After a few weeks, a
building became available in Zion, Illinois. While in prayer God
said, to Pastor James, "Go to Zion and take the reproach off my
name." The rest will be written in glory as we pursue the call and
plan that God has for our lives.
